Sunday 16th October is World Food Day. It’s the perfect day to consider the impact food has on our lives and the long-term sustainability of it. FAO’s theme for World Food Day 2016 is “Climate is Changing. Food and agriculture must too” and as part of this, they are calling for everyone to cut food losses.
This year, we are asking everyone to work together to reduce good food going to waste. We are working with retailers in the UK and Ireland to eliminate wasted food at a retail level, with 5 million meals redistributed to charities. But everyone can make an impact. By reducing wasted food in the home you can prevent 80kg of good food going to waste. Let’s make this happen.
