FoodCloud’s innovative food rescue platform, Foodiverse, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Digital for Good Award at this year’s Spider Awards. This recognition highlights our commitment to leveraging technology to reduce food waste and fight food insecurity on a global scale.

What is Foodiverse?

Foodiverse is a cloud-based food rescue platform that connects surplus food with communities that need it. Since 2013, it has evolved into a powerful solution in the fight against hunger and food waste. Through smart technology and strategic partnerships, Foodiverse enables:

• Operations across six countries
• Collaboration with 7,000+ charities
• Redistribution of 287 million meals worldwide
• Saving 386,748 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions going to waste

Innovative features driving impact

To enhance food redistribution efficiency, our team has recently introduced new features to expand Foodiverse’s reach:

1. Third-party collectors – Volunteers can now collect food donations on behalf of charities with limited resources.
2. Donation splitting – Large-volume donations from wholesalers can now be distributed across multiple charities, reducing food waste.

These enhancements are particularly valuable in supporting emerging food banks in lower-income countries, ensuring that good food reaches those who need it most.

Measurable outcomes

The real-world impact of Foodiverse is evident across multiple regions:

• Ireland: 61 million meals distributed, saving 25,746 tonnes of food
• Kenya: 464 tonnes of food redistributed since November 2023, providing over 2 million meals
• Indonesia: 28,516 meals delivered through 37 charity partners and 18 donors since May 2024

Aligning with global goals

Foodiverse is actively contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

• SDG 2: Zero Hunger – Ensuring surplus food reaches vulnerable communities
• SDG 12.3: Halving global food waste per capita – Minimising food waste through smart redistribution technology
