In 2018, AIB committed to investing €500,000 per annum in FoodCloud for three years, further supported by financial and non-financial supports to the value of €330,000 per annum for three years from Rethink Ireland's Growth Fund. This investment was established by the Department of Rural and Community Development from the Dormant Accounts Fund.
Since the AIB and FoodCloud partnership began in 2018, the additional capacity and financial security provided by the partnership enabled FoodCloud to focus and develop a robust three-year strategic plan to optimally position the organisation for sustainable future growth. This partnership has been transformative for FoodCloud and in the first two years of our partnership, FoodCloud redistributed an additional 50 million meals with AIB’s support.
To continue tackling the enormous environmental issue of food waste and to support local communities across Ireland AIB renewed its partnership with FoodCloud for another three years, investing €1.5 million to support the social enterprises’ ambitious 2021–23 strategy.
In addition to the financial support in 2018, AIB also established an employee volunteering programme as part of AIB Together, the bank's community investment programme which was set up as a way to give back to local communities across the country by building on the positive contributions that AIB employees are making.Since our partnership began, more than 1,200 AIB team members have donated over 7,640 volunteer hours in our three Hubs and through virtual volunteering
